The Langtang region of Nepal is home of the Tamang or Lama people. These people are ethnic indigenous group of people who have their own language, culture, and traditions. Post-Earthquake Langtang

2015 is the callous and unfortunate year for Nepalese people especially the people of Langtang! Deadly earthquake of 7.8 magnitudes hit the country claiming thousands of lives and millions of properties. The earthquake induced Langtang Lirung Avalanche swept an entire village of Langtang. The bustling and buzz of the village turned into rubbles in a minute!

People of the region showed great tenacity and resolution. They rebuilt the entire trekking trail in just two years. All trekking activities were suspended for two years! Since 2017, the trekking restarted!

The original trail is redirected and rearranged. You can find better tea houses and eateries in the trekking trail. Langtang people are slowly working towards operating sustainable tourism activities! While trekking from Lama Hotel to Langtang, trekkers can visit the old village site as well. People stay either in new Langtang Village or in Mundu Village before heading towards the Kyanjin Gompa which is the last village on this trekking trail.

You can support the local community as well in the field of health and education. Lots of groups from abroad and Nepal have volunteered in the field of education and health in the region.
