Helambu Circuit trek is also known as Yolmo Heritage. This trek is one of the most convenient short treks of its kind close to Kathmandu but quite unspoiled. These trekking trails are famous for their outstanding natural beauty, fascinating culture, and favorable climates. This trekking area is close to Kathmandu and has easy access to low elevations. Being easily reached from Kathmandu, taking only a week, it is a very good trek for trekkers with limited time in Nepal. This trek provides you with an excellent opportunity to explore the typical culture, wonderful scenic grandeur, and pleasant climate.
Helambu Circuit trek, we pass through some beautiful rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, and interesting Nepal Villages en route. We encounter and explore several highland Sherpa and Tamang villages scattered on both sides of Melamchi Khola. Breathtaking mountain views emerge on your ascent as the vegetation becomes sparser and the conditions more challenging.
During this trip, we visit the homes of the Brahmans, Tamang, Chhetries, and Sherpa tribes of Nepal. Helambu Circuit Trek, The Sherpa are different from the Sherpa of the Khumbu region and have a unique culture. This region is also very much famous for Thanka art.
This trek starts with a short drive to Sundarijal, which is the entry point of Shivapuri National park. From Sundarijal we pass through the pristine forest exploring the rich wildlife and from there we reach Chisapani which is a beautiful place offering you wonderful sunrise with outstanding views of Ganesh Himal. From this trekking route, you will experience the interesting culture of high mountain villages with the high mountains and watch enthralled as the farmer toil in the field using handmade tools and teams of water buffalo.
DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU (1,400M)
After arriving in Kathmandu, a delegate from Everest Trekking Routes will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you may take a rest or visit the Everest Trekking Routes office. In the evening there will be a welcome dinner given by Everest Trekking Routes where you will be served Nepalese food which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.

DAY 02: DRIVE TO SUNDARIJAL (1 HOUR) AND TREK TO CHISAPANI (2300M) – 4 HOURS
Today is the first day of our trekking and we will slowly drive to Sundarijal which takes 1 hour from Kathmandu valley then we slowly walk for Chisapani which is at the height of 2400m Shivapuri from the sea level. After passing Descend to Chisopani, outside of Kathmandu Valley Biggest Shivapuri National Park, if we are lucky we will see wild boar and some other Animals. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Chisapani where we will spend one night.
Trek time: 4-5 Hour Trek
DAY 03: TREK FROM CHISAPANI TO KUTUMSANG (2446M) – 7 HOURS
After a warm breakfast, we will slowly trek to Kutumsang which is the most beautiful and evergreen rice terrace and elevation of 2446m from sea level. It takes 7 hours to reach Kutumsang from the Chisapani. We will enjoy the magnificent views of the Langtang mountains as you drop down through the rhododendron forest on the far side of the pass. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Kutumsang. After reaching Kutumsang, we will explore all around the valley then after sp[end overnight in this beautiful place.
Trek time: 6-7 Hour Trek
DAY 04: TREK FROM KUTUMSANG TO THAREPATI (3650M) – 6 HOURS
We leave Kutumsang for Tharepati after having breakfast early in the morning. We enter Langtang National Park into Oak and Rhododendron forest before Tharepati will have lunch at Magni goth, then continue to Tharepati. It takes 6 hours to reach Tharepati from Kutumsang. The trail steadily climbs through the prickly-leaved oak forest with an excellent view of the mountain and the Helambu valley. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Tharepati. After reaching Tharepati, first of all, we will check out the hotel then we will explore all around the valley and come back to the hotel and spend one night.
Trek time: 5-6 hour Trek
DAY 05: TREK FROM THAREPATI TO MELAMCHI GAUN (3500M) 4 HOURS
Early morning climb to Tharepativiewpointt for sunrise and Panoramic views enjoy after return to the same lodge take breakfast, Easy day to Melamchi gaun which is popular by helmo and old monastery. The path passes pine and rhododendrons forest rich with bird life along with good views down into the Helambu valley. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Melamchi Gaun where we will spend one night in this beautiful village.
Trek time: 4-5 Hour Trek
DAY 06: TREK FROM MELAMCHI GAUN TO TARKEGYANG (2560M) – 6 HOURS
Spending the wonderful night in Tharepati, we slowly start our trek to Tarkegyang after having breakfast early in the morning. The Melamchi Gaun bit track off and local foot trail to Tarkeghayang, It takes 6 hours to reach Tarkegyang from Melamchi Gaun. We will get an opportunity to explore the valley and its monastery which is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries in this region. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Tarkegyang. Before reaching Tarkegyang, we have to cross many suspension bridges in this region. And we will spend one night in this beautiful village.
Trek time: 5-6 Hour Trek
DAY 07: TREK FROM TARKEGYANG TO SERMATHANG (2610M) – 4 HOURS
In the morning time, we will continue the trek to Sermathang as a day hike enjoys with beautiful Dorje Lakpa, Sisapangma, and many other trekking peaks. We will have tasty local food and Helmu Sherpa culture. Enjoying the Himalayans peaks ofter appear before you glistening in the sunshine. We have our lunch on the way then after we will slowly move towards Sermathang. The trail leads us to cross a small forest with a view of the beautiful village of the Helambu region. And we will spend one night in this beautiful village Sermathang.
Trek time: 4-5 Hour Trek
DAY 08: TREK FROM SERMATHANG TO MELAMCHI PUL BAZAAR AND DRIVE TO KATHMANDU
From Sermathang we will move towards Melamchi Pul Bazaar after having breakfast early in the morning. After reaching Sermathang, we will have our lunch, and then after we will take some rest and we will move towards the Kathmandu valley. After reach in Kathmandu valley, First of all, we will check out our hotel first then we will explore all around the Thamel Bazaar and have a farewell dinner. And return back to the hotel and we will spend one night in Kathmandu valley.
Trek time: 4 Hours drive to Kathmandu
DAY 09: FINAL DEPARTURE
We will drop you at the International Airport with our vehicle for your departure and we will see you.
