Arun Valley Trek

Arun Valley trek is in one of the deepest valleys in the world. It is not only picturesque but sits in a diverse region with stunning terraced landscapes and wilderness, an exceptional route in this area. It is one of the least touristy trekking trails in Nepal located between Sagarmatha(Mt. Everest) and Makalu-Barun National Parks. This valley provides an alternative approach to the Khumbu region.It is also abundantly rich in natural vegetation and wild life with more than 650 species of birds and over 800 species of butterflies, the shelter of the rare and endangered Panda can be found on this trekking trail.

Arun Valley trek is for the trekker who loves to walk through isolated and hidden valleys. It is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural beauty and culture. Walking through the picturesque Sherpa villages is the main attraction of this region. Their unique culture and traditions will make your journey memorable.The route is extremely panoramic, providing us with outstanding mountain views, the natural jewel of lush hills and rhododendron forests. We can see many Orchids and other flowers along a faint jungle trail with swirling prayer flags at Shipton La.Arun Valley trek offers amazing trekking experiences show casing the beauty of the natural paradise of Eastern Nepal.

The trekking routes reached by flying directly to Tumlingtar, a small village located on a plateau. If you are looking for wilderness and solitude and can overcome the logistical complications of the region this is the trek for you. The best season for this trekking in Nepal route is March – May and September – November.

This trip is organized by Everest Trekking Routes which have over 20 years’ experience in Trekking, Tours, Peak Climbing and many others activities in Nepal.

Outline itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Katmandu – ETR Member will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
Day 02: A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Biratnagar flight and drive to Hille (1800m)
Day 04: Hille trekking to Tumlingtar (460m)
Day 05: Tumlingtar trekking to Kartike (300m)
Day 06: Kartike trekking to Gothe Bazaar (775m)
Day 07: Gothe trekking to Dhobane (920m)
Day 08: Dhobane trekking to Phedi (1680m)
Day 09: Phedi trekking to Gurase (2880m)
Day 10: Gurase trekking to Sanam (2850m)
Day 11: Sanam trekking to Bung (1900m)
Day 12: Bung trekking to Surke la (3085m)
Day 13: Surke La trekking to Gaikharka (2300m)
Day 14: Gaikharka trekking to Pangum (3173m)
Day 15: Pangum trekking to Puiyan (2680m)
Day 16: Puiyan trekking to Lukla
Day 17: Flight back to Kathmandu
Day 18: Free day in Kathmandu
Day 19: Final Departure


Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

After arriving in Kathmandu, a delegate from Everest Trekking Routes will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you may take a rest or visit the Everest Trekking Routes office. In the evening there will be welcome dinner given by Everest Trekking Routes where you will be served Nepalese food which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.

Day 02: Full day Sight Seeing Kathmandu Valley

After the breakfast, we spend the whole day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley as major point. One of the biggest Stupa in the world, Bouddhanath stupa and Monastry, Old heritage Buddhist temple Soyembhunath and Monastry, Kathmandu Durbar Squer Kumari temple and Patan Durbar Squar krishna temple. The kathmandu sightseeing is real Nepalese traditional culture and heritage touring. After tour will back to hotel and preparation the Annapurna Base camp trip overnight stay hotel. 

Day 03: Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (518m)

From kathmandu to Tumlingtar it takes about 1 hr flight. Explore at tumblingtar, Stay overnight at tumblingtar

Day 04: Trek to Marduna (1200m,) 6 hours

After hot breakfast trek to Marduan, we follow the Arun River north. We stop at Balwa Besi for lunch. Then we started quite a long climb through forest to Marduna. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 05: Trek to Dobani (975m) 5 hours

After hot breakfast we trek to Doani, we get up hill then downhill until Chikhuwa Khola. Then we take lunch at Ghote Bazzar, where basic accommodation available. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 06: Trek to Salpa Phedi (1700m) 4 hours

After hot breakfast trek to Salpa Phedi, This day all the way is uphill; Tallo phedi will be our lunch stop. Then step to Salpa Phedi. Then we trek towards Salpa Phedi, There are local base beautiful tea house and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 07: Trek to Guranse (2920m) 5 hours

After hot breakfast trek to Gaunase, thus you get at least so far up before the sun gets hot. On the way you meet some small villages where you can have light basic lunch.  Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 08: Trek to Sanam (2650m) 5 hours

After hot breakfast trek to Salpa La pass (3350m, then downhill through forest, At Dhaka There is some tea houses where we take lunch, from there it is undulating and then slightly up to Sanam where there is an nice lodge. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 09: Trek to Bung (1700m) 5 hours

After hot breakfast trek to Bung. We trek downhill until lunch place to Guidel, then steeply downhill to cross Hongu Khola then slightly up and through terraces into Bung, Large rai village of bung and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Boskam Gompa (4 hours)

After breakfast trek to Bskam, This day almost way will be uphill but this is short day trekking just about 4 hours walking. There are basic home stay teahouse and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 11: Trek to Vasme (about 6 hours)

After breakfast trek to Vasme via Gaikharka. We pass via a moist, ferny jungle and then the path moves across the Hinku Khola through a 62m-long, steel bridge. You will look at two stunning waterfalls and the trail begins to ascent vertically to the valley of Sibuje (2500m), also recognized as Vasme and Chatuk. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 12: Trek to Pangum (3140m) 5 hour

After breakfast trek to Pangum is mostly uphill and ninny village and gompa. The trail to join mera peak and Ampu lapcha junction where wild part of thick forest Oak and Rhododendron. Walking forward to Amazing views from on the trail and forward gairikharka where we pass moist camp, path of the henku hola through a 62m long ferny jungle. Excellent stunning waterfalls and the trail begins to ascent vertically to th sibuje (2500m.)  And stay overnight at lodge.

Day 13: Trek to Painya (2800m.) 5/6 hours

After breakfast trek to Painya , which is jiri to Everest Base camp routes joint path and highlight with walking trail to Painya stay overnight at lodge.

Day 14: Trek to Lukla (2850m,) 4/5 hours

After Breakfast trek to Paiya, we will move along the track and reach to Lukla seeing different Sherpa villages coming across a suspension bridge above thado Koshi, Waiting for flight to Kathmandu and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu (30 Minute) Explore and shopping

After breakfast we short walk to airport and waiting for flight. Because some time very hard to get flight and lots of people waiting. We must reservation for flight before our trip. When we arrived in Kathmandu explore and shopping souvenir to your family.

Day 16: Final International departure

We will drop you to the TIA for your final departure and happy journey your hometown, hope to see you again and good bye.
