Ghale Gaun Trek

Ghale Gaun Trek route is newly opened and is a short hike to a very beautiful village situated Lamjung district. Ghala Gaun trekking is for those trekkers who are interesting in learning how the local Nepali people live. It is a small, beautiful village inhabited by the ethnic Gurung people, who have served and are currently serving in the British Army, known as the famous Gorkha soldiers. This trek allows us to experience the immensely rich Gurung culture and traditions. It lies 21 km north west of Kathmandu and 13 km from Pokhara.

Ghale Gaun Trek starts from Kathmandu to Besisahar, our journey in the bus takes about 5 to 6 hours. On this trekking route, the villagers you pass are famous for their hospitality as are the home stays. Villagers are welcoming with warm greetings and wear their traditional clothes and show their customs to the tourist. We will see the local cultural dances and other Gurung specialties of this region. The trekkers get many great opportunities to sightsee and learn about the culture during their stay.

The best season for this trekking is autumn and spring. This trekking route lies on the foothills of Lamjung Himal (6932m) is a truly blessed village with views of Annapurna ranges, Machhapuchre, Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli in the background. The local people warmly welcome all visitors and you will stay with the families, giving you a true understanding of Nepalese family life.

Day 05: Trek From Bhujung Gaun to Pass Gaun (1800m.) 5-6 Hours

Day 06: Trek From Pass Gaun to Naidhar (1650m.) 5 Hours

Day 07: Trek From Naidhar to Thumsikot (1500m.) 5 Hours

Day 08: Trek From Thumsikot to Begnastal (820m.) 6 Hours

Day 09: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu  6-7 Hours

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 

After arriving in Kathmandu, a delegate from Everest Trekking Routes will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you may take a rest or visit the Everest Trekking Routes office. In the evening there will be welcome dinner given by Everest Trekking Routes where you will be served Nepalese food which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Khudi (790m) 7 Hours

Our destination is Khudi which is just 186 km and about 7 hours drive from Kathmandu valley. The trail passes through the beautiful forest, with the chances to see some of the wildlife. During the time of trekking, we will pass through several Gurung, Magar, and other caste villages to reach District headquarter of Lamjung called Besishar. It is also famous for bird watching so you may have views of beautiful birds. We will spend one night in Khudi.        

Day 03: Trek from Khudi to Ghalegaun (2070m) 5 Hours

The third day of the trip and we finally reach our destination of the trek and the trail continues through the beautiful forest, offering a wonderful opportunity to spot a wide range of wildlife and birds and small villages. You can enjoy the view of the sunrise and surrounding of the mountain as Mt Annapurna and Manaslu ranges and we will spend one night in this beautiful villages. 

Day 04: Trek From Ghale Gaun to Bhujung (1950m.)  5 Hours

We leave Ghale Gaun for Bhujung after having breakfast early in the morning. Our trek leads to Gurung settlements Ghan Pokhara crossing through the fertile land, some traditional village along Nepal. During the time of trekking, we will pass through the beautiful villages, landscapes and the wonderful views of the mountain. Before reaching Bhujung, we will cross many suspension bridges and we will stay one night in this beautiful village. 

Day 05: Trek From Bhujung Gaun to Pass Gaun (1800m.)- 5-6 Hours

We continue our trek towards Pass Gaun after having breakfast early in the morning. The trail is the most area of up ascending and real natural tea garden and larges rice field to grow lots of huge farming and also the awesome waterfall. During the time of trekking, we will pass through the lush forest of rhododendron, pine, and oak. When we reach Pass Gaun take while rest and We will stay overnight at Homestay.

Day 06: Trek From Pass Gaun to Naidhar (1650m.) -5 Hours

After breakfast continues trek to Naidhar is lower then Pass Gaun villages. The trail is descending and cross to the river after that hike up into forest with beautiful Gurung villages of Naithar. During the time of trekking, we will pass through the beautiful villages, landscapes and the wonderful views of the mountain. Before reaching Bhujung, we will cross many suspension bridges and we will stay one night in this beautiful village. 

Day 07: Trek From Naidhar to Thumsikot (1500m.) - 5 Hours

We trek to Thumsikot after having breakfast early in the morning at the lodge of Naidhar. It is little lower than Naidhar and most beautiful village of Between Begnas and Naithar. It is also famous for bird watching so you may have views of beautiful birds. Also, similar trail into the evergreen forest and we will stay overnight at Homestay of Thumsikot. 

Day 08: Trek From Thumsikot to Begnastal (820m.) - 6 Hours

Today is the last day walking trekking of Ghale Gaun. After breakfast continues to Begnas, the trail is going down and forward to the Tall bazaar and if would take the vehicle that is also available and nearly ending the journey of Ghale Gaun Homestay. We get many opportunities to see the wonderful scenery, mountain views and beautiful landscapes of this route. After 6 hour walk from Thumsikot, we will reach Begnastal where we will stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 09: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu 6-7 Hours

In the morning time around the 7:00 am we will drive towards Kathmandu valley. We get chance to see the wonderful scenery of Nepal. After reach in Kathmandu valley, First of all, we will check out our hotel first then after we will explore all around the Thamel Bazaar and have a farewell dinner. And return back to the hotel and spend one night in this village.

Day 10: Final Departure

We will drop you at the International Airport with our vehicle for your departure and we will see you off.
