However, there are some unique itineraries which incorporates both of these trekking trails including the off the beaten paths around the region. For example, the Manaslu Rupi Nala Trek is the off the beaten trekking route. Some trekkers prefer to do the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Trek in one single itinerary. Interestingly, some adventure hikers also prefer to do the Ganesh Himal Trekking too from the Tsum Valley Trek route. You can visit the Ganesh Himal Base Camp from Nile Village after exploring the Mugompa monastery. It requires a day hike to reach the Ganesh Himal Base Camp and return back to the same village. Besides this, there are many low altitude trekking routes in the region. You can explore the Barpak Village or explore Ganga Jamuna Waterfall which are also in the region but in the low altitude places outside of the Tsum Nubri Rural Municipality.
Spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) are the best times to do the Manaslu Circuit Trek with Tsum Valley. However, the months like April and October are considered to be an ideal time to do the trek. In terms of the permit cost, the months of spring season are the best. It costs 25 $ less for the permit in spring than the permit in autumn season. Avoid winter and monsoon season for best experiences.
Yes, it is possible to do Tsum Valley and Manaslu Trek in one single trekking permit. You need to mention the possible route or itinerary while purchasing the permits for the trek. Various permits required for the Manaslu Trek in Nepal are special restricted area permit, Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) entry permit, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry permit, and Tsum Nubri Rural Municipality Permit. Restricted Area Permit costs 100 $ for 7 days in autumn season with additional 15 $ for each extra day where as the rest of the season is possible in just 75 $ per week for the permit with 10 $ for each extra day.
The trekking trail of the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Trek in Nepal is within the restricted zone. Therefore, trekkers must fulfill various requirements to do the trek. You are not allowed to do solo or independent trekking in the trail. In addition, you must travel with the trekking itinerary prepared by Nepal Government registered trekking agency under the guidance of licensed trekking guide. Make sure that you respect the local culture and traditions too. Build up the cardio – vascular abilities and improve physical fitness level before the trek. There are many uphill and downhill sections where you have to walk for about 6 to 7 hours a day in an average. Therefore, stamina is high priority.
Major villages on the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Trek route are habituated by Gurung, Magar, Brahmins, Chhetris, Dalits, and Tibetan origin Tsombo people. In the lower altitude places, trekkers get to know about people other than the Tsombos. However, in the higher – altitude places beyond Philim village, you encounter Tsum people. These people speak their own language and are mainly the followers of Bon Po and Tibetan Buddhism. Some of the iconic villages on this trekking route are Jagat, Philim, Lho, Lhokpa, Chumling, Chhekamparo, Nile, Samagaon, and Samdo.
The cost of the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Trek depends largely on your preferences and trekking days. It requires about 20 to 21 days completing this long trekking trail. The price ranges from 1490 $ per person to 1900 $ per person. Please choose the local trekking agency that employs the locals as a trekking guide. If you hire a local guide, then you can get authentic information. In addition, the trek becomes safe with the locals.
