Kanchenjunga base Camp Trek trail begins along the Tamur River through Pipal trees and villages. This trekking route has been described by many trekkers as the best trekking route in rural Nepal. This trekking route is an ideal trekking route for those with time and desire to venture into some of the remote regions of Nepal.  The trail explores the area around Kanchenjunga the third highest mountain in the world. Steep forested slopes form the impressive valley sides with snow peaks above and there is a hydro electric plant. You will see a wide range of scenery from lush, tropical jungle through to rhododendron, chestnut and oak forests and then at higher altitudes into the alpine zone.  This includes those of the Limbu people, famous for inventing Tongba (the highland concoction made from fermented millet) and as the mainstays in the British Gorkha Regiments.

Kanchenjunga base Camp Trek offer infinite variety of landscapes, cultures and Himalayan panorama and as the trail gains elevation, the striking views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga, four of the worlds five highest mountains make the trek amazing wonderful. These trekking routes provide an excellent opportunity to observe real Nepali lifestyle. This trekking route is a magnificent peak striding the border between Nepal and India. This trekking route is geographically and culturally awesome and to start the trekking we have to fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar in the lowlands and up to Suketar.  The best season for this trekking route is March to May and September to November. Day 06: Trek to Dobhan (660m) 7hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Mitlung (890m) 6hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Chirwa (1185m) 6hrs.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Arrival in Kathmandu, The representatives by Everest Trekking Routes will welcome to you at TIA Upon your Arrival. We transfer to hotel overnight stay.

Day 02: Full day Sight Seeing Kathmandu Valley

After the breakfast, we spend the whole day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley as major point. One of the biggest Stupa in the world, Bouddhanath stupa and Monastry, Old heritage Buddhist temple Soyembhunath and Monastry, Kathmandu Durbar Squer Kumari temple and Patan Durbar Squar krishna temple. The kathmandu sightseeing is real Nepalese traditional culture and heritage touring, After tour will back to hotel and preparation the Kanchenjuna Base Camp trip overnight stay hotel.

Day 03: Flight to Biratnagar (100m); drive to Basantpur (2200m), 6 hours.

Around 1 hour flight Kathmandu to biratnagar offers stunning spectacular Himalayan and tarai scenery. Langtang to Kanchenjunga and drive to 120 km equally spectacular scenery end of the road at basantapur located on the ridge, and forward beautiful evergreen hills and serpentine road with many hairpin turns passing through the town of Arun valley river beside the hille. End of the drive we will overnight at campsite.

Day 04: Trek to Chauki (2700m) 15km/900m/ 7 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Chauki is 3km to tunde, it takes around 6 to 7 hours walk major trek which is tamur valleys with lots of local travel along to chainpur. Trekking toward major tropical villages and pass few local villages Dhoorpani, Tinjure Danda, Tinjurephedi and others little villages, The views of stunning of Kanchenjunga, Makalu and wild part of evergreen rhododendron forest. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 05:  Trek to Gupha Pokhari (2900m) 4 hrs.

After breakfast trek to MilkeDanda Range to beautiful Gupha Pokhari natural water pound. The trail follows mainly through Rhododendron forest being in full bloom of rich bright red colored clusters of flowers in April and May. At high points of the trail we gain beautiful panoramic views of Chamlang, Mera, Makalu and Kangchenjunga stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 06: Trek to Dobhan (660m) 7hrs.

After breakfast trek to dobhan, it is a long day today but it is all downhill to riverside village of Dhoban located at the junction of two rivers (a literal meaning in Nepali) the MaihwaKholaand the Tamur Koshi. We will pass Gurja Sherpa village, where we stop for lunch and continue to reach dobhan stay overnight at lodge.

Day 07: Trek to Mitlung (890m) 6hrs.

After breakfast trek to Mitlung, we trek in the Tamor Nadi River valley staring at low point of 660m and reaching 1650m in Sekathum. The deep valley and heavy monsoon rain falls make the trail wet and muddy until we reach elevation of 1000m after Mitlung. We will be walking along the river and in the rainforest with rich birdlife creating really stupendous character for the section. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 08: Trek to Chirwa (1185m) 6hrs.

After breakfast trek to chirwa, the day is amazing spectacular scenery deep in the Himalayan river gorge with awesome thundering sound of mighty torrent amplified by the George of heaven. We will walk on part of dense and subtropical wild forest and through the narrow valley with local several villages. The area of through inhibited by traditional owners of limbu ethnicity, subsistence manual growing lots of crops such as rice, millet, barley, wheat, corn and others food as well. Beautiful farming and productive for most of the year, stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 09:  Trek to Sekathum (1640m) 5 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Sekathum through the Tamor Nadi valley, which turns into Ghunsa river past Simbuwa Khola just before Sekathum, a tributary originating from Yalung glacier. The scenery transform slowly while the valley opens scenery stay overnight at Camp.

Day 10: Trek to Amjilasha (2490m) 5hrs.

After breakfast trek to Amjilasha, It is a shorter walk today 6km but we gain almost 900m elevation and mostly at the end of the day before our camping spot in Amjilasha. The trail narrows and follows the Ghunsa River to open again when we start climbing towards Amjilasha. The ethnicity traditional local Sherpa community and culture, stay overnight at lodge.

Day 11: Trek to Gyabla (2730m) 4 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Gyabla is Easy walking evergreen wild forest and beautiful jungle trail without any villages. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 12: Trek to Ghunsa (3430m) 5 hrs

After breakfast trek to Ghunsa. We cross 3000m/10000ft elevation threshold and will maintain comfortable pace to avoid Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Half way between Gyabla and Ghunsa there is a Tibetan village of Phole where we stop for a relaxing lunch. It is a nice place to touch the Tibetan Buddhist culture and to visit a welcoming monastery. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 13: Rest day in Ghunsa Explore

Visit to Sherpa village of Ghunsa is a perfect place for a rest and to soak 3400m elevation before trekking to the north base camp. Ghunsa is the last permanent settlement on the way and exploring scenery stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 14: Trek to Kambachen (4040m) 6 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Kambchen. We explore one of the most magnificent glacial valleys in Nepal if not in entire Himalayas. We will walk on the moraine and the glacier from Lhonak. We will camp today at the bottom of Jannu Glacier with direct view of Kanchenjunga massif and Jannu, a truly awe inspiring experience. This is a very remote area and not unusual to see some wildlife such as blue sheep, ibex, mountain goat or smaller animals among the rocks such as hyrax and marmots and birds of prey above eagle, kites and falcons and many others creatures which is more rare. Stay overnight at Camp.

Day 15: Trek to Lhonak (4790m) 6 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Lhonak. The terrain is desolate high altitude glacier with no villages or houses. Trail climbs gradually through moraine debris and with the elevation it makes the hike slower. The glacier starts around Ramtangat 4240m and the trail continues on its north side with Lhonak located at the junction of Lhonak and Kanchejunga glaciers and surrounded by stunning mountains abound in all directions it nature of the beauties’. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 16: Explore Pangpema Base camp (5140m) 6 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Pangpema Base Camp. The area is visited by few trekkers’ climbers so there is not enough traffic to create the path. We will explore the glacier area as much as possible. It is most hard and challenging parts stay overnight at lodge.

Day 17: Return to Ghunsa (3430m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Ghunsa, Returning to Ghunsa allows retracing our previous days with different perspective of the trail and the scenery around. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 18: Trek to Sele Lapass (4500m) 6 hrs.

After Breakfast trek to Sele Lapass, we ascent is along the trail used by local people walking through thick forest of birch, pine and rhododendron whitely Himalaya covered by snow. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 19: Trek to Tseram (3870m) 8 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Tseram It is Challenging trek today with a steep 400m climb to Mirgin La Pass with tremendous view of Jannu Himal as well as Makalu, Baruntse, Chamlang Kangchenjunga, Kabru and the Himalayan range along Sikkim border followed by the walk along ridges with a final descent to Tseram. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 20: Trek to Ramche (4620m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Ramche the day explore Yalung glacier, we start early to reach Ramche where we set-up our overnight camp. After lunch, we trek towards Octang 7km away with elevation gain of 300m, the view point of Kangchenjunga and a stunningly beautiful amphitheatre of impressive peaks Rothang and Kabru stay overnight at lodge.

Day 21: Trek to Tortong (2995m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Tortong, easy trail along Simbua Khola through varieties of pine and rhododendron forests, descending all the way to Tortong. Stay overnight at Campsite.

Day 22: Trek to Yamphudim (2070m) 7 hrs.

After trek to Yamphudim it takes around 6 - 7 hours landslides making it difficult to hike. There is also 600m climb to the 3500m Lamite pass stay overnight at lodge.

Day 23: Trek to Khebang (1740m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast continue high passes through the beautiful several tropical villages of Chhetri and Brahmins. After tow pass stay overnight at campsite.

Day 24: Trek to Phakholing (800m) 7 hrs.

After breakfast trek to phakoling long day with 1000m drop over 6km to Dobhan for our lunch stop and another 8km of undulating but straightforward village path to the village. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 25: Trek to Tharpu (1600m) 4 hrs.

After breakfast trek to Tharpu the ends of trip. We will take it easy and enjoy last glimpses of Kanchejunga range and final mountain sunsets from vantage point of the village to complete this incredibly exhilarating trek. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 26: Drive to Bhadrapur, 190km. 9 hrs.

Drive to bhadrapur takes 8-9 hours at airport, the road is narrow ranges with over 100 hairpin turns end endless windings. Despite to being tiring it is rewarding trip and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 27: Fly to Kathmandu (1400m) 1 hours

After breakfast transfer to airport and massive 1 hour fly to Kathmandu. In clear weather there is the opportunity to view some of the most impressive peaks of the Himalayan range as we take our flight back to Kathmandu, Shopping and stay overnight night at hotel.

Day 18: Final International Departure

We will drop you to the TIA for your final departure and happy journey your hometown, hope to see you again and good bye.
