Please note that the Everest region and the Everest Base Camp Trek route have two different meaning. Mountains which are located not in the Everest Base Camp Trek route can be listed under the Everest region. For example, Mera Peak Climbing is in the Everest region but it is not located in the Everest Base Camp Trek route. So, the major peaks to climb that are located in the Everest Base Camp Trek route are Island Peak, Amadablam Mountain, Lobuche Peak, Pokalde Peak, Kongmatse, Chola tse, Kusum Kanguru, etc.

Average Cost to Climb Pokalde Peak

You can book the Pokalde Peak Climbing at just 1800 $. It is comparatively easier and cheaper mountain to climb among these three peaks. If you add around 400 $ to 500 $ in the regular Everest Base Camp Trek cost, then you can buy the Pokalde Peak Climbing package.

Island Peak Climbing

Cost to Climb Island Peak

The cost to climb Island Peak starts from 2150 $. Please note that the mountain is the most hardest among these three mountains. Therefore, you may have to pay slightly more and it depends upon the group size, climbing season, and your preferences of lodging/meals.

Lobuche East Peak Climbing

Out of two Lobuche Peaks, the Lobuche East (6119 m) is the trekking peak and the Lobuche West (6145 m) is the expedition mountain. If you love thrill yet want less risk, then choose the Lobuche East Peak Climbing.

Yes, it is possible to climb all these mountains in one single trip. Three Peaks Climbing: Pokalde, Island and Lobuche East itinerary can be squeezed in one single trip. However, you must have extreme level of fitness and endurance. In the space of a week’s time, conquering towering 6000 m mountains is never easy. Mental strength, experienced support crew members, best climbing weather window, and physical strength with good cardio – vascular abilities are needed for this epic Three Peaks climbing in one single itinerary.

How much does it cost to obtain Pokalde, Island, and Lobuche East Peak Climbing Permit?

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has rights to issue peak climbing permits to 27 peaks of Nepal. According to the NMA website, the permit cost for months of spring season is 350 $ per person and 175 $ per person for other seasons (autumn, monsoon, and winter). This provision is same for the Island Peak and Lobuche East Peak. Interestingly, you don’t need the peak climbing permit to climb Pokalde Peak.

Climbing Difficulty: Pokalde Peak vs Island Peak vs Lobuche Peak

The easiest mountain to climb among these three peaks is the Pokalde Peak (5806 m) followed by the Lobuche East Peak (6119 m), and the Island Peak (6189 m). In fact, you don’t need fixed ropes or ice axes or crampons to climb Pokalde Peak. However, you should be prepared as snowfall may make the trail slippery. The Island peak climbing is the most technical out of these three peaks. You have to trek through crevasses, use ladder, and walk on narrow vertical ridge while climbing this peak.

Best Season for peak climbing in Nepal’s Everest region

Most of the climbing activities take place in the months of spring season here in Nepal. Lots of Sherpa Climbing guides and mountaineers choose time between March and May. However, autumn season (September – November) is also an ideal time to do peak climbing. Winter ascent is difficult and you should avoid monsoon/summer season.
