Physical and Mental Preparation for Lobuche Peak Climbing

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

After arriving in the Kathmandu Valley, our team will be there with one person from our company to pick up you. After picking you up, first of all, we will check out the hotel and take some rest in the hotel, and have our lunch. After taking some rest, we will explore the Thamel Bazaar. And makes plans for tomorrow and spends one night.      

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,652m) 3-4 hours

If the hotel is able to make breakfast, we will have our breakfast and then we will have our breakfast in Lukla. It is the first day of walking trekking or Island peak climbing. During the time of trekking, we will have to cross many suspension bridges and also have an opportunity to explore the national park. We will also pass through the Dudh Koshi stream and we will have an opportunity to explore Sherpa village. It takes almost 3 to 4 hours to reach Phakding from Lukla.

After reaching Phakding, we will explore all the villages and spend one night in this beautiful village.

Day 03: Trekking to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 5-6 hours

Walking up to the beautiful sunrise over the royal snow-capped peaks and we will also enjoy small tea houses and shops. Namche Bazaar is also known as the Kingdom of Sherpa village. We cross and re-cross the river on high-airy suspension bridges and we may even catch a wonderful view of the mountain, small villages, and beautiful landscapes. It is an uphill walk from Hillary Bridges to Namche Bazaar and we will have to cross many suspension bridges and beautiful Sherpa villages and landscapes.

At the time of trekking, we will pass through the bank of Dudh Koshi. After walking some hours from Phakding, we will reach Manjo where we will have our lunch and take some rest and slowly move towards Namche Bazaar. After reaching Namche Bazaar, we will take some rest and spend overnight in this wonderful land.

Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar

This day we don’t start our trekking because today is for the rest day but we will explore all around the Namche bazaar. The place also features other essential services. Today we will explore, all around the Namche bazaar and today, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, landscapes, Sherpa village, and old monastery in this village. And after exploring all around the villages, we will back to the hotel and spend overnight in this beautiful village.

Day 05: Trekking to Tengboche (3,870m) 5- 6 hours

This day is the 5th day in the Everest region in island peak climbing. We ascend towards Tengboche and villages that house the very famous Tengboche where there is the oldest and largest monastery in the Everest region. During the time of trekking, we will have an opportunity to explore the Sagarmatha national park where we will have an opportunity to see many rare birds, animals, flora, and fauna.

The trail goes through the forest of pine and rhododendrons and after crossing the forest and then after we will reach Kenjuma where we will have our lunch and take some rest and slowly move towards Tengboche. After 5 to 6 hours walking from Namche bazaar, we will reach Tengboche where we will spend one night in this beautiful village.

Day 06: Trekking to Dingboche (4,360 m) 5-6 hours

This day we begin our trek by walking through the lush forest, beautiful landscapes, and beautiful villages and we first hike half an hour downhill to the riverside. During the time of trekking, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain. The trek crosses exciting suspension bridges on it and walks passing by a long Mani stone wall to enter the village of Pangboche where we will have our lunch and take some rest.

After having our lunch, we will slowly move towards Dingboche. After reach in Dingboche, we will check out the hotel and we will explore the village. Upon exploring the village, we will back to the hotel and spend the overnight.

Day 07: Rest day in Dingboche

Today we don’t start our trekking because today is for the rest day but we will explore all around the Dingboche. The place also features other essential services. Today we will explore, all around the Dingboche, and today, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, landscapes, Sherpa village, and old monastery in this village. And after exploring all around the villages, we will back to the hotel and spend overnight in this beautiful village.

Day 08: Trekking to Lobuche (4940 m) 5-6 hours

Trek along a board valley floor to Dughla and this trekking is staffed by western volunteer doctors. A good trail leads through the pasture to the edge of a diminishing forest and rhododendron and pine which clothes the steep hillsides. We need to keep our camera ready with a full charge to catch the outstanding views of the Khumbu glacier. During the time trekking, we will have an opportunity to know about the lifestyle of the Sherpa people who are the local inhabitant of this wonderful land.

Not only that on the route, but we also have an opportunity to see the old monument and all. After a few hours of walking from Dingboche, we will reach Khumbu Glacier where we will have our lunch and take some rest. After taking a rest, we will start our trekking heading towards Lobuche where we will spend overnight.

Day 09: Trekking to Gorak Shep (5,170 m) 6-7 hours

The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier and we will pass through the pyramid signpost. There is not much elevation gain but there are a lot of ups and downs and the combination with altitudes. The walk is strenuous due to the thin air in the high altitude and we see tents of mountaineers that stand out the bright color against the monotony of gray surroundings.

During the time trekking, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori. At the time of trekking, we will have an opportunity to see the small villages of the Sherpa people and we will have our lunch on the way. It takes almost 6 to 7 hours to reach Gorak Shep from Lobuche and we will spend one night.

Day 10: Trekking to Kala Patthar and back to Lobuche Base Camp (4940m) 7-8 hours

Very early in the morning, we will start our trekking towards Kala Patthar. There is always the potential for chilly wind which is quite common and this is the day we get a small taste and you will feel the challenge as you hike up to the glacial moraine towards Base Camp. We will have our breakfast on the way.

They teach you how to use climbing gear such as ice ax, climbing boot, crampons, harnesses, ascenders, etc. After a few hours of walking from Gorak Shep, we will reach Kala Patthar and we will have our lunch and take some rest. After taking some rest, we will slowly back towards Lobuche where we will go to spend overnight.

Day 11: Trekking to High Camp (5,400m) 3-4 hours

We start our trekking, after having breakfast early in the morning. We will climb quite steeply to the south and then follow the moraines east along the main valley. The base camp presents a magnificent view of Lobuche Peak and after 3 to 4 hours walk from Lobuche, we will reach the high camp where we will have our lunch. After having our lunch, we will take some rest and after rest, we will prepare for tomorrow’s day trekking and spend overnight in this place.

Day 12: Summit Lobuche peak climbing and back to High Camp 8-10 hours

Today is the longest day trekking of the Island peak climbing in the Everest region and we will start our trekking early in the morning around 4 am. This will not be difficult but not risk-free and we will be at the ridgeline which takes you to an exciting pass onto the nose of the summit glacier. After summiting the peak climbing, we will have our lunch, and then after, we will explore all around the peak climbing and slowly back towards High Camp. It takes almost 8 to 10 hours to reach High Camp and we will spend overnight in the High Camp.

Day 13: Trekking to Pangboche (3930m) 8-9 hours

Following the same route back through the wide valley of Khumbu Khola and we will be retracing the trail along the Imja Khola and cross it over suspension bridges. The trail heads towards Pangboche and the trail then drops, steep down to the valley crosses the suspension bridges. We will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain, beautiful landscapes, and small villages, and we can also take a different trail to visit the Gompa. Once we are at another side of Imja Khola and we ascend towards Pangboche where we will spend one night.

Day 14: Trekking to Namche Bazaar 4-5 hours

Waking up early in the beautiful valley of Pangboche and we will slowly move towards Namche Bazaar. Today, we will continue walking towards Namche Bazaar where we will pass through the lush forest of rhododendron, pine, and juniper. You can enjoy the day wandering around town and the trail first drops down through the ridge and then the walk is fairly easier till Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is also known as the kingdom of the Sherpa people.

With the views of the mountain, we will also have wonderful views of the small village and beautiful landscapes. Before reaching Namche bazaar, we will reach Tengboche where we will have our lunch and take some and explore all around the Tengboche monastery. It takes almost 4 to 5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar where we will spend one night.

Day 15: Trekking to Lukla 6-7 hours

Today is the last day of walking and trekking Island peak climbing in the Everest region. This is the last-night trekking in the mountains is the ideal opportunity to spend one night in the Sherpa village. The trail is a little steeply downwards and also crosses many suspension bridges over the fast-flowing Dudh Khola and the trails become more level and natural. From Namche to Lukla, we will have to cross many forests and villages where will have our lunch and take some rest. After 6 to 7 hours of walking from Namche bazaar, we will reach Lukla where we will spend one night.

Day 16: Fly to Kathmandu

Early in the morning, after having breakfast we will slowly move towards the local airport of Lukla to fly towards Kathmandu Valley. After 45 minutes of mountain flight from Lukla, we will reach Kathmandu Valley. And we will drive towards the hotel and check out the hotel. After checking out the hotel, we will have our lunch and take some rest. If we have time then we will explore all around the Kathmandu valley and if we have not then in the evening time, we will explore all around the Thamel Bazaar. In the evening time, we will have our farewell dinner and spend a luxurious night in Kathmandu city.

Day 17: Final departure
