What is Langtang Himal?

The Langtang Himal is situated in the southwestern side of the Shishapangma Mountain and Jugal Himal. Please note that the Jugal Himal is in an abode of the Mt. Shishapangma. Mount Langtang Lirung Information

Do you know that the Mt. Langtang Lirung (7234 m) is known for its vertical ridge line and it is one of the most challenging mountains to climb in Nepal? Yes, there were many attempts to climb this mountain but to no avail as its southern side is completely impossible to climb. For the first time in 1978 the team of Japanese climbers led by Seishi Wada and Pemba Tsering Sherpa successfully climbed the mountain from the Eastern ridge of the Mt. Langtang Lirung.

2015 Earthquake Avalanche in Langtang

In 2015, Nepal was callously hit by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that took thousands of lives and properties. The Langtang region of Nepal was hit hard due to the earthquake. On 25th April, 2015 the earthquake stroke the Langtang Lirung Avalanche that swept away an entire village of the Langtang. More than 243 people died in the village. It took more than two years for the locals to rebuild the village. The trekking route was built in the new route than the existing one.

Don’t trek in any trekking routes of the Langtang region of Nepal without an assistance of a trekking guide. In fact, it is not legal to trek or travel inside the Langtang Himal region without an assistance of a guide. You are not allowed to do solo or independent trekking in the region.
