Helambu Circuit Trek itinerary overview

The Helambu Circuit Trek is a 7-9 day trek that takes you through the Langtang region of Nepal. The trek starts from Sundarijal, which is about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. The trail takes you through several traditional villages, lush forests, and stunning mountain landscapes. The highest point of the trek is Tharepati Pass at an altitude of 3,650 meters.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

After arriving in the Kathmandu Valley, our team will be there with one person from our company to pick up you. First of all, we will check out the hotel and take some rest in the hotel, and have our lunch. After taking some rest, we will explore the Thamel Bazaar. And makes plans for tomorrow and spends one night.

Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m) 4 hours

If the hotel is able to make a hot breakfast we will have our breakfast in the hotel and if the hotel isn’t able then we will have our breakfast. After a 1-hour drive from Kathmandu Valley, we will reach Sundarijal. In Sundarijal, we will have our lunch and take some rest and slowly move towards Chisapani. It takes almost 4 hours to reach Chisapani. And we will spend one night in the beautiful valley of Chisapani.

Day 03: Trekking to Kutumsang (2446m) 7 hours

Today the trail leads down Pati Bhanjyang a small lovely village. Our today’s trek starts with a decent crossing of meadows and fields. The trail continues to drop from Chisopani on a good sometimes level crossing meadows and fields. Before Kutumsang, we will reach Gul Bhanjyang where we will have our lunch and take some rest. After taking a rest, we will slowly Kutumsang. It takes almost 7 hours to reach Kutumsang from Chisopani and spend one night.

Day 04: Trekking to Thadepati (3650m) 6 hours

The trail climbs the ridge from Kutumsang to another pass. We climb above Kutumsang on a steep trail mostly through the fir and rhododendron forest. The trek gives an opportunity to see the incredible panoramic views of the Langtang ranges to the north. We will have our lunch on the way and then after taking some rest and slowly Thadepati. It takes almost 6 hours to reach Thadepati from Kutusang. After reaching Thadepati, we will explore all around the valley, and back to the hotel, and spend one night.

Day 05: Trekking to Tarkeghyang (2560m) 6 hours

From a viewpoint just above the village and start our trekking for today. The trail steeply descends through the pine and rhododendron forest with great views down into the Helambu valleys. It is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their distinctive culture. A steep path rises above the village to a fluttering white flag on the mind of the Langtang region. On the way, we will have our lunch and take some rest. After having lunch, we will start our trekking towards Tarkeghyang. It takes almost 6 hours to reach Tarkeghyang from Thadepati. We will spend one night in this village.

Day 06: Trekking to Sermathang (2,610m) 3/4 hr

The trail heads southwest on gentle slopes, crossing small streams and rising to villages and pastures. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between the Parachin and Sherpa villages of the Khumbu region. It is the center of an important apple-growing area from where a fantastic view of the Himalayas is seen. During the time trekking, we will have an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain. There is also a Buddhist monastery at the highest point of the valley. A high trail heads north to cross the difficult Ganga La beyond which it joins the Langtang trail. The path becomes a gentle ascent and leads to the pass below the crematory painted Chorten trek until to reach Cautara at the end of the ridge.

Day 07: Trekking to Melamchi Pul Bazaar and Drive to Kathmandu

After having breakfast in Sermathang, we will slowly drive towards Melamchi Pul Bazaar. After some hours of walking from Sermathang, we will reach Melamchi Pul Bazaar. We will have our lunch and slowly drive towards Kathmandu Valley. It takes almost 3 to 4 hours to reach Kathmandu Valley from Melamchi Pul Bazaar. And we will drive towards the hotel and check out the hotel. After checking out the hotel, we will have our lunch and take some rest. If we have time then we will explore all around the Kathmandu valley and if we have not then in the evening time, we will explore all around the Thamel Bazaar. In the evening time, we will have our farewell dinner and spend a luxurious night in Kathmandu city.     

Day 08: Final departure
