I did a ‘solo’ ( with a trekking guide of course) 14 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek + Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek back to back. Starting from Kathmandu, my guide and me took a bus to Pokhara. The next day we moved on to Nayapul, report at the ACA checkpost at Birethanti and starts trekking to Uerali and stay overnight there. After breakfast the next morning, we trekked to Ghorephani and visited Poon Hill the next day. From there, we trekked through the beautiful serene forest to Chueli on the fifth days, Sinuwa on the sixth, Deurali on the seventh, and finally reached Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) on the eight days.
The terrains varies; going through dirt road from Birethanti, villages trails with built steps, natural forest trails, and a snow-covered trail from Machapuchare Base Camp to ABC.
On the ninth, tenth, and eleventh day, we trekked from ABC down to Sinuwa, then on to Landruk, and finally ascended to Mardi Himal Low Camp and High Camp. We started trekking up the to Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4 am and reached the base camp at 7 am. The weather was beautiful and bright, allowing us to enjoy a clear, 360-degree panoramic view with no fog in sight.
After spending an hour at the Base Camp, we trekked down to Low Camp, continuing to Sidhing for the night.
The following day, we headed back to Pokhara, thus completed the 14 days trek.
The highlights of the trek were undoubtedly the views, which became almost beyond comprehension upon entering the high-altitude zone. You simply have to see them yourself to fully appreciate them. Along the lower trails, I also encountered an abundance of beautiful flowers, most notably the red rhododendron, which is Nepal’s national flower. Additionally, I spotted several beautiful birds that are found only in Nepal or specific parts of the Himalayas.
Regarding trekking management, I am incredibly grateful to my guide and trekking companion, Mr. Torche Gurung. He oversaw my accommodation and meals, and he was always on hand to help carry my extra baggage. He is also highly knowledgeable about the routes, the itinerary, the mountain peaks, and the flora and fauna we encountered along the trails.
Last but not least, I would like to thank Mr. Rabin Gurung and his crew at Everest Trekking Routes Pvt. Ltd. for arranging the itinerary and handling all the logistics for this trek. I highly recommend that anyone wanting to trek in Nepal engage this company as their trekking agent.
As an additional note, this was my fifth visit to Nepal, and Mr. Rabin and his company have been my agents throughout, thanks to their excellent service and fair and reasonable trekking costs.
