Jiri to Everest Base camp Trek

Jiri to Everest Base camp Trek is one of the oldest and most famous trekking routes of the Everest region. This trekking route is still used by porters and pack animals, with much fewer trekkers that do the Lukla to Everest Base Camp Trek. It has the combination of natural and cultural wonders and offers us an opportunity to see the beautiful scenery of the Himal. Mainly Sherpa lives here and many families along this route have converted their homes into trekker lodges catering to the foreign trekker. This trekking route now has a new road which allows buses to continue beyond Jiri to Shivalaya where the trek now begins. Varying altitudes, diverse floras and faunas, ethnic cultures and indigenous lifestyles are some of the highlights of this trek which takes you from the midland hills through the well-beaten tracks into the Himalaya. This trekking route goes from Jiri to Namche. It passes through numerous interesting villages that are now only visited by a small number of trekkers each year.

Jiri to Everest Base camp Trek route is best for those trekkers who are physically fit and want to challenge themselves with the unpredictability of mountain life. The trail passes through beautifully terraced farmlands, forests and classic middle-hill countryside. We can also visit Sagarmatha National park, this requires you to have Tim’s card or permit. The views of the awesome mountains and the beautiful scenery make this trek special.

The best seasons for this trek are Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September, October) but we offer this trek during all four seasons. You will also have the chance to have a close look at the spectacular Khumbu Icefall in Everest Base Camp. This type of trekking is for the trekker who wants real adventures and is looking for a challenging trek.

This trip is organized by Everest Trekking Routes which have over 20 years’ experience in Trekking, Tours, Peak Climbing and many others activities in Nepal.
